Options for the Final Project

So these are my top contenders for the grant proposal...

#1: Funding for a Heidelberg hosted “street festival” (which will hopefully become an annual event). The primary aim will be to bring together residents of Detroit’s East Side, as well as neighbors from the metro area, for a day of community arts, music, fun and familiarity. The East Side has long been seen by many as a place to avoid, but this event would showcase the area’s potential and foster a friendly atmosphere in which Detroiters can interact.

#2:  Support for a gallery featuring work by members of the community in conjunction with art-making classes and workshops. Participants will not only enjoy the process of making art, they will be able to experience putting together gallery shows and presenting their work to other members of the community at opening events.

#3: Support for a Community Gift Shop operated by rotating groups learning the basics of entrepreneurism. In association with a workshop on small business operations, groups will develop handmade products or crafts and use their time in the shop to market and sell their goods. Though a permanent entity will own the shop, the daily operations (merchandising, sales, etc.) will be handled by the designated group for a defined period in order to impart practical, hands-on knowledge of how to run a retail business.

I originally conceived these projects with a Heidelberg connection in mind, but the assignment doesn't require it... now to focus my energies... hmmm.
